Dr. Mike Safley


Dr. Mike Safley serves as the pastor of Louisburg United Methodist Church. Prior to accepting this appointment in 2015, Dr. Safley served in numerous executive and ministry capacities throughout North Carolina, including stints as President/Chief Executive Officer of Methodist Home for Children from 1997 to 2005, Vice-President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students at Methodist College from 1987 to 1997, and as the Associate Director for North Carolina Conference Council on Ministries for Youth and Young Adults from 1982 to 1987.

In 2005, he was presented the “Order of the Long Leaf Pine” by former Governor Mike Easley – the highest honor given to a citizen of the state of North Carolina.  Dr. Safley received his Bachelor of Arts from Methodist College in 1972, and his Masters of Divinity from Duke University in 1975. In 2002, he was awarded an honorary Doctorate of Humanities Degree from Methodist College.
